I am going to start a list of animal meat that works consistently for animals. This list probably doesnt need coyotes, unless you have a killer recipe that consistently put them in the bed of your vehicle. Here we go: 1. Mice 2. Rabbits 3. Beaver 4. Muskrat 5. Woodchuck/Groundhog. 6. Skunks 7. Horse meat. 8. House cat meat 9. Bobcat meat. 10. Deer. 11. Striped or Pocket Gophers. 12. Pheasant 13. Grouse. 14. Squirrels. I am sure there are more I am not thinking of at the moment, and will edit my post to add them. This post can be good for new (or experienced) bait makers thinking of taking it up, or continuing it and at least a couple of these animals should be around in your area. Make a post with the animals that make good bait, and I will add it to my post (also can include your formula if you would like). Also, make sure the animals are legal as bait in your area, as deer may be legal in Texas, but not South Carolina. Lets see if we can get 20 or more animals on the list. Thanks for everyones participation!

Throught my experience any cat meat IS GOOD, beaver, horse, mice, muskrat, skunk meat, These are what me and many other bait and lure makers agree on. As some of the top meats to use in formula. Any meat will work, some just better that others.

You have to be careful in most western states. Any game animal or fish is illegal. Even if it is rotted down and the powers to be want to bust your a$$. Rabbit doesn't have any smell IMO to mild like beef. So deer, grouse, pheasant, trout, salmon is a no-no. Learn your laws before jumping with both feet into lure/bait making. It is to costly to waste items you use to make your lure/baits. Be careful of who you buy from too.
